Today the 2s rocked up the Slades to play 3rd in the table Epping Forresters, a new and very solid team to the league. We were greeted with a damp wicket and in classic fashion Wes lost the toss and we was sent into bat by our opponents. The openers got off to a good start against some decent bowling especially from B .Freeman an 83 year old in his prime. Bailes looked to score quickly, taking advantage of the short boundary Chelmer side. We lost both openers in the 9th over for a 40 partnership, Bailes (29) Mower (11). Mcfall came in and produced a very aggressive cameo scoring 32 in under 10 balls which gave us all a job finding the balls from the 6s he hit in the bushes. Josh departed and this meant Skipper Wes was joined by Jack and together they saw us through drinks putting on 63 for the third wicket before Wes decided to hit the ball straight to the fielder at backward square leg. S.Wicked’ stay at the crease was brief scoring just 2 before Jack ran him out (sorry mate x). Dave joined Jack who shorty after went to a slow 50 digging in and steadying the ship. Dave soon after spooner a ball to a fielder leaving us 203-6. Jack was joined by A.Cockrell and the pair put the foot down scoring 4s and 6s putting away the bad balls. Jack went from 50 to 100 in no time, a much needed big score but he departed shortly after celebrating his tonne he was dismissed for 103 runs. This left Cockrell at the crease who produced a brilliant quick fire 32 not out to give us the momentum going into the second innings. 259-9 off the 45 overs, a brilliant score given the conditions.
In reply to galleywoods’ total Epping started strong and took advantage of some sub par bowling. Bolton however was on top of his game keeping his end tight and only letting 14 runs through off his 7 overs. However Epping was scoring easily the other end hitting 68 off 11 overs when the first wicket fell. With the opener Iqbal hitting 54 not out. Iqbal would continued his onslaught finishing on 112 when he was finally bowled by Good. There were not many other contributions from the opposite with Chapman hitting 30 and extras being third top scorer. Bowling figures were
Drew 3-0-36-0
Bolton 7-2-14-0
Mcfaull 10-1-57-4
Wicks 10-0-31-0
Good 7.3-1-44-4
Adama 3-1-7-2
