Galleywood travelled to South Weald and were presented with a delayed start to allow for a soggy wicket to dry out. Play got underway at 14:00 with South Weald winning the toss and electing to field.
Galleywood raced out the blocks thanks to a 21 from 21 balls from Murray but he nicked off to second slip. In his next over, R Hull removed the second opener, Brace, for 9. Sturton and Rayner put on 41 for the 4th wicket to give Galleywood some impetus in the game. Aquilana was able to remove skipper Rayner for 23. Wickets fell quickly while Sturton was holding down one end and made himself 47 from 56 balls. Felton made 11 and Hicks 7 which meant Galleywood finished on 156/9 in the agreed 35 over match. Top scorer was Sturton with 47 and the best South Weald bowler was R Hull with 4-26 from his 8 overs.
After tea, the South Weald openers set about chasing the total. Galleywood took the first scalp in the 9th over with Hicks dismissing R Hull for 14. Long and Lingala got into double figures but other opener Clayden got them both in his 6th over to put Galleywood in charge. Next change bowlers Adams and Felton took 2 a piece in the fading light and rain starting to appear. C Todd batting at 7 weighed in as top scorer with 22 but when Felton had him caught, Galleywood could sense the win. Storey came on to clear the tail up and it registered Galleywood’s first win in the league for 2021. Clayden ended with figures of 3-25 from his 8 with C Todd getting 22.
